You said yes, you danced all night, and now you're refreshing your inbox. How long should wedding photos actually take to come back? Here is what's normal, what's too long, and exactly what we promise.
What's Normal in the Industry
Most wedding photographers deliver a full gallery somewhere between 4 and 12 weeks after the wedding. Wedding films usually take longer, often 2 to 6 months, because every minute of a film is cut, color graded and mixed with sound. In busy season (June through October) waits tend to stretch, since a photographer may be shooting two or three weddings a week while editing the ones before.
Why It Takes Time
A full wedding day can produce 2,000 to 5,000 raw photos. Each one worth keeping gets culled, color corrected, matched to the rest of the gallery and retouched where it needs it. A film means watching hours of footage, picking the moments, syncing audio from vows and speeches, and building a story that feels like your day. Good editing is most of the job, and it can't be rushed without it showing.
When It's Too Long
The most common complaint couples leave about wedding photographers isn't the photos. It's waiting months with no word. Warning signs:
- No delivery date in the contract. "We'll get them to you soon" is not a date.
- No sneak peek or update weeks after the wedding.
- Slow replies before you book. If it takes a week to answer an inquiry, it will take longer to answer "where are our photos?"
What We Promise
At Love & Moore your full photo gallery arrives within 6 weeks and your film within 10 weeks, and the dates are written into your agreement. Need them sooner for thank-you cards or a parent's birthday? Rush delivery is available for both. You can see exactly what each package includes on our pricing page.
Questions to Ask Before You Book
- When will I get my full gallery, and when will I get my film? Is that in the contract?
- Do you offer rush delivery, and what does it cost?
- How will I hear from you while you're editing?
- How do I download and share the gallery once it's ready?
