River Room at Burning Bush Brewery weddings

River Room at Burning Bush Brewery wedding photographer & videographer

Photography and film for River Room at Burning Bush Brewery weddings, planned around the light at River Room at Burning Bush Brewery and the walking between spots. Photography from $1,000, videography from $650, both from $1,100. Travel inside the Chicago metro is included.

About the venue

An honest planning note

River Room at Burning Bush Brewery is at 4018 N Rockwell St, Chicago, IL 60618, about 6 miles northwest of the Loop in a straight line. Its website describes a fully customizable, multipurpose event space on the North Branch of the Chicago River in the North Center neighborhood.

The room runs its own wedding and photography rules, so start with the room itself for what is allowed on your date. Below is how we would plan the photos: the light, the spots, a sample day and what it costs.

Planning the photos

A room you set up yourselvesA customizable space means the look comes from your layout and decor. Pick the ceremony spot and head table with photos in mind: a clean background behind the two of you matters more than anything else in the frame.
Find out what light the room getsThe venue site does not say much about windows, so this is the first thing to check. We look at the room at the same time of day as your ceremony, then decide where portraits go and whether we need to add light.
The river is the drawAsk the venue which spots by the water you can reach and whether they are open on your date. If there is one, save it for the last half hour before sunset, after family photos are done.
Low buildings, longer eveningsNorth Center is low-rise, so the evening sun is not blocked the way it is downtown. A short walk outside at golden hour is an easy backup if the waterfront is not an option.

Sample timeline

A June Saturday in the room

A starting point, not a rule. Our timeline builder makes one for your real date.

  • 3:30 PM Getting ready photos and details
  • 5:00 PM First look and wedding party photos in the shade
  • 6:00 PM Guests arrive, we cover the ceremony space
  • 6:30 PM Ceremony (30 minutes)
  • 7:00 PM Family photos close to the ceremony spot
  • 7:44 PM Golden hour portraits, two or three spots
  • 8:27 PM Sunset, then into the reception
  • Getting ready nearby? From the Loop it is roughly 6 miles, and slower on Saturday afternoons. Leave real buffer before the first look.
  • Every move between spots costs time on foot. Two or three portrait spots close together beat a tour of the room.
